Sharon L. “Pinkie” Beck

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Pinkie Beck was born on October 2, 1943 in Indianapolis, six hours before her future husband was born at a hospital across town. It was their shared birthday that led her mom, Dorothy, who worked in the payroll department where Pinkie was working a summer job, to introduce her to another summer employee, Artie Beck. Artie and Pinkie we’re married on August 27, 1966 in Indianapolis and moved to Columbus in 1969. Pinkie embraced her role as a mom and a wife and excelled at both. In addition to running the family, Pinkie also volunteered in the community wherever needed. She gave her time and energy to Jay Shees, Service League, St. Bartholomew School and Church, Meals on Wheels, Campus Life, and Columbus Regional Hospital to name a few. When she wasn’t helping others or spending time with her kids and grandkids, she really enjoyed playing bridge and continued playing whenever and wherever she could to the end. Pinkie is survived by her husband, Art; her daughter, Julie; her son Jeff (Kristin); and her grandkids, Madi, Lucy, Sophie, Gabi, Max, Ryan, and Greta. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Latham, and her brother, Bob Latham.
