Bartholomew County Emergency Management said the National Weather Service is predicting widespread heavy rainfall today with the threat of flash flooding in the area.
The Weather Prediction Center has placed the southern two-thirds of the state under a slight risk for excessive rainfall, and the northern third of the state under a marginal risk . Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches are expected in the slight risk area, while 1-2 inches are expected in the marginal risk.
A flood watch is in place for much of the state. Across southern Indiana near the Ohio River, the threat for isolated damaging wind gusts or an isolated tornado exists.
Timing for rainfall/flooding potential is 1 a.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
