Brown leaving the airport for software company

Columbus Municipal Airport is looking for a new assistant manager.

Current assistant manager Matt Brown has accepted a job with Veoci, a software company that provides emergency management, “business continuity” and everyday operations services to a variety of industries and businesses, including Columbus Municipal Airport.

“This will be my last board meeting,” Brown told the Columbus Board of Aviation Commissioners on March 8. “I’ve accepted a position with Veoci to be a customer success manager with them and help other airports work with that software. It’s fully remote, so I’ll be in Columbus for the foreseeable future, but just not with the airport. So I’ve got about another month or so here to kind of make sure things run smoothly.”

Payne said that Brown has been “fantastic” during his time with the airport.

Brown began working with Columbus Municipal Airport in November of 2019 and was named as one of Airport Business magazine’s Top 40 under 40 in 2021.

“It’s been a great three and a half years,” he said. “A learning experience for sure, and Columbus is home now for us, so we’ll definitely stay here and get the kids through school hopefully.”

The assistant manager reports to the airport director and is responsible for airside operations. Preferred qualifications include a degree in aviation management or five to seven years of “direct airport operations experience,” two to five years of experience in the management field, knowledge of federal and state aviation agencies, and “comprehensive knowledge of personal computers and software packages.”

The assistant airport manager should also be able to learn to effectively use the city’s financial software, as well as Veoci, which serves as the airport’s airfield and lease management software.
