Dan William Shriner, II, age 52, of Columbus passed away on March 14, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born February 12, 1971, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Dan William Shriner I and Janet Rothrock Shriner.

Dan served his country for 12 years in the United States Navy and after his retirement, he worked as a technician in the Information Technology field. He married Shirley (Stinnett) Shriner and she survives.

Dan was a very happy and giving person, always willing to help others. He loved the color Orange and even wore an orange suit. He had been employed by Kroger as a manager trainee and Toyota Material Handling.

Dan is survived by his wife Shirley; mother, Janet (Chad) Rothrock Wolf, of Columbus; grandmother, Lillian Rothrock, of Columbus; son, Elijah Shriner, of Ireland; stepson, Todd L. Bailey of Jeffersonville; stepdaughter, Leandra N. Bailey of Vincennes; sister, Christy Lee; step-sister, Shayna Stanley; step-grandson, C. J. Bailey; niece, Autumn Lee and nephews, Austin Lee, Dylan Stanley, and Cash Stanley. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Dan William Shriner I in 2009 and his grandfather, Harry Rothrock in 1994.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2 pm with Rev. Jerry Barnhart and Chris Rutan officiating, and Veterans memorial rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
