BATAVIA, Ohio — The Edinburgh softball team opened its season with a 4-1 win against Hilltop before falling to host Batavia (Ohio) 16-4 on Saturday.
MacKenzie Bieker threw a three-hitter with no earned runs and 15 strikeouts and hit a three-run home run to break a 1-1 tie against Hilltop. Gracie Crawhorn went 2 for 2 with a double.
Kenna Streeval went 3 for 3 with a double against Batavia. Gracie Barrett had two RBIs for Edinburgh (1-1), which plays at Columbus East on Tuesday.
