North announces boys XC coaching change

Rick Sluder, who has coached the Columbus North girls cross-country team the past five years, is taking over as head of the overall boys and girls cross-country program.

Sluder, who also is the Bull Dog boys and girls track coach, takes over the boys portion of the cross-country program from Andy Keffaber, who resigned after one season after being named a department chair at North High School.

Rick Weinheimer, who led the Bull Dog boys to five state titles and the North girls to one state title before retiring in 2017, will help out with the boys team. Weinheimer helped with the North track and cross-country programs last year.

Sluder is holding an athlete and parent informational meeting for the 2023 cross-country season at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the school cafeteria at North. All summer dates and information will be covered.
