June A. Rayborn Sorrell, 81, of Columbus, passed away March 30, 2023 at Silver Oaks Health Campus. June was born June 29, 1941 in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Rudolph and Crystal Ferguson Stoltzman.

June married Bert C. Rayborn on July 19, 1971. After her husband’s death on July 13, 2004, she met Bill Erfmeier. He became her beloved significant other, filling the last 10 years of her life with love and companionship.

June was a creative soul. She expressed herself in various mediums from painting, crafts, making clothing, to ceramics. Her creativity and ingenuity found her coming up with all the things she could make from the everyday items that would pass in front of her eyes. June was a die-hard IU Fan, enjoyed dancing, as well as playing bingo with her friends at The Legion and The Moose.

June is survived by her children Jeanie M. Diggs of Decatur, Illinois, Rita E. (Sam) Tobias of Edinburgh, Mary (Paul) Snow of North Branch, Minnesota, Aubrey L. “A.J.” (Jo) Jones of Edinburgh, and Tricia J. Rayborn of Columbus; grandchildren Tracy Haynes, Briana “Bri” Friend, Tim Diggs, Kali Rochelle (Dan) Johnson, Jason Friend, Elizabeth Friend, Caroline (Richard) Littrell, Gary Tobias, Laura (Jon) Perlinger, Adam (Amanda) Snow, Tyler (Amber) Snow, Amanda (Kyle) Janda, Jake Heggestad, Bryce (Danielle) Jones, Morgan (Kyle) Jones, Mallory Jones, Fancy Parris, Michael Parris, and Andrew Jones, Clayton (Keona) Jenks, Rebecca (JR) Jenks; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Cheryl (Todd) Simonson from Caney, Oklahoma.; Gail (Tom) Norris from Mankato, Minnesota. and Jackie (Dave) Fideler from Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brothers Robert (Pam Borviak) Stoltzman and Alvin (LuAnn Waltermann) Stoltzman both from North Mankato, Minnesota, as well as Kirt (Glenda) Stoltzman from Kingston, Oklahoma.

June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bert; her companion Bill; Linda S. “Lin” Friend; sisters Marlene Yowell, Marilyn Mortland, Ann Flatequal, Dorothy Stoltzman and Barbara Stoltzman; brothers George Stoltzman and Butch Stoltzman.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday April 4, 2023 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist.
