Robert D. “Bob” Kirlin

NASHVILLE

Robert D “Bob” Kirlin, age 81, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana. Born November 3, 1941 in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of Howard Daniel and Moneta Faye (Leverton) Kirlin. Bob received his bachelor degree from Franklin College. He was the ultimate career salesman and business owner having worked in both apparel sales and as a Realtor. He loved the Brown County community and served as a visionary for Nashville’s progress over the past few years. In return, he was a very beloved member of both the Nashville and Brown County communities and had received the John Rudd Award for Community Service. He was a dedicated member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Rotary Club of Brown County, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, as well as various other organizations, including the Brown County Playhouse, the Salt Creek Trail formation group and the Brown County Community Foundation. He also was a dedicated member of the Nashville United Methodist Church where he was instrumental in the building of their playground and shelter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Christy Lynn (Bassitt) Kirlin, of Nashville, one son, Brad (Sarah) Kirlin, of Loveland, Ohio, his brother, Charles Austin (Nancy Jane) Kirlin, of Columbus, Indiana; former daughter-in-law and her husband, Celeste Kirlin Reider and Justin Reider; five grandchildren, Megan, Ben and Makenna Kirlin, William Howard Kirlin Reider and Samantha Reider; three nieces, Debbie (Brad) Howell, Susan (Tim) Larken and Julie (Brad) Davis and several great nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Chuck Kirlin.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nashville United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Wilder Cartwright officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, April 4 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
