New CPD officer sworn in

Alec McCullough was sworn in earlier this week as a new officer on the Columbus Police Department.

The Columbus Police Department welcomed a new officer to the ranks after he was sworn in by Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop during the Board of Public Works meeting held Tuesday at Columbus City Hall.

Alec McCullough (CPD #293) is a 2022 graduate from IUPUC, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is currently enrolled at Indiana University East, where he is taking courses and seeking a master’s degree in criminal justice.

After completing in-house training at the Columbus Police Department, Officer McCullough will attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, according to the department.
