North teams take third

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North’s boys and girls both came way with third-place finishes in Friday’s Conference Indiana meet.

No. 10 Bloomington North won the boys meet with 143 points to 100 for Bloomington South and 92 for the No. 17 Boll Dogs. No. 10 Bloomington North won the girls meet with 154 points for 140 1/3 for No. 11 Bloomington South and 88 1/3 for No. 9 Columbus North.

The Bull Dog girls began the meet by setting the conference meet record in the 4×800-meter relay. Carys Glyn-Jones, Kyleigh Wolf, Julie Klaus and Lily Baker ran 9 minutes, 27.55 seconds.

Julia Kiesler won the 3,200 (11:05.11) and finished third in the 1,600 (5:04.29). Baker took second in the 1,600 (4:56.98) and third in the 800 (2:19.09). Moana Steele was second in the shot put (39 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and fifth in the discus (103-1).

Also for Columbus North, Marieme Niang finished third in the pole vault (9-0) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.57). Other fourths went to Glyn-Jones in the 400 (1:01.40), Klaus in the 800 (2:20.34), Wolf in the 3,200 (11:33.53) and the 4×100 (52.82) and 4×400 (4:17.33) relay teams.

Will Russell led the Bull Dog boys with wins in the 1,600 (4:22.76) and 3,200 (9:33.83) and by teaming with Akot Tong, Kellen Hottell and Mateo Mendez to take the 4×800 relay in 7:53.56.

Owen Russell finished second in the 300 hurdles (42.00) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.97). Liam Phillips took second in the pole vault (13-0), and Mendez was second in the 800 (1:57.75).

Liam Milne finished third in the 110 hurdles (16.04), Ryan Eisfelder took third in the 300 hurdles (43.06) and Neal White was third in the 3,200 (9:35.94). Max Mormini finished fifth in the pole vault (11-6), Adler Larson took fifth in the 1,600 (4:27.72) and Columbus North was third in the 4×100 relay (44.41) and fourth in the 4×400 relay (3:28.29).

Hauser boys edge Indy Genesis

HOPE — Hauser pulled out a 53-52 win in the boys meet, while Indy Genesis took the girls meet 88-25.

Luke Bruner won the shot (41-1 1/2) and discus (105-7) to lead the Jet boys. Other winners were Lakota Robbins in the long jump (19-4), Colin Kistler in the 1,600 (4:54.8), Taeshaun Tungate in the 400 (57.3), Cameron Toole in the 200 (23.5) and Mason Moore in the 3,200 (12:32.9).

Bronwyn Newcomb had both wins for the Hauser girls, taking the shot (24-5) and discus (74-6).

SOFTBALL

East falls to 4A No. 4 Stars

BEDFORD — Columbus East matched Class 4A No. 4 Bedford North Lawrence with five hits, but the Stars claimed an 8-2 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Kenzie Foster went 2 for 2 with a home run leading off the game for the Olympians (9-8, 1-3). Megan Kennedy threw a five-hitter.
