SOFTBALL

East edges Panthers

Addy Ross delivered a two-run walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh Friday to lift Columbus East to a 5-4 win against Bloomington South to close the regular season.

Kenzie Foster went 3 for 4 with a triple, Ross went 2 for 4 and Kaylee Cole went 2 for 4 with a double for the Olympians (16-11). Megan Kennedy and Hermione Robinson combined on a seven-hitter.

East now has won five in a row heading into Tuesday’s first-round sectional matchup at Class 4A No. 2 Columbus North.

Cougars rout Twisters

GREENSBURG — South Decatur pounded out 24 hits in closing the regular season with a 20-10, six-inning win against Oldenburg Academy.

Molly Eden went 4 for 4 with a two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, and Kyra Fields went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Cougars (6-18). Paige Paton went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Lydia Witkemper went 3 for 5 with a double, two triples and three RBIs, Arey Brown went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Sami Storm went 3 for 5, Daisy Martin went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Piper Phelps went 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Woodmen top Lancers

GREENWOOD — Edinburgh jumped out to a 7-1 lead after 3 1/2 innings, but Greenwood rallied for a 10-8 victory.

Eloise Cox went 4 for 5 with a double, and Kenna Streeval went 3 for 4 with a triple and a home run for the Lancers (12-12), who outhit the Woodmen 15-11. MacKenzie Bieker went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, Lillie Goff went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and Alix Streeval went 2 for 5.

Eagles fall to Owls

NASHVILLE — Brown County wrapped up the regular season with a 9-6 loss to Seymour.

Ally Hash hit a grand-slam for the Eagles (4-14). Ava Stogsdill went 2 for 4.

Cougars nip Lions

LOOGOOTEE — Trinity Lutheran pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to pull out an 8-7 win at Loogootee.

Dianna Munoz went 2 for 2, and Morgan Brewer went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run for the Cougars (14-10). Grace Lance threw an eight-hitter.

JC downs Warriors

SCOTTSBURG — Jennings County jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and held on for a 5-3 win at Scottsburg.

Cooper Reeves went 2 for 3, Cole Sigler went 2 for 4 with a double and Cole Sigler went 2 for 4 for the Panthers (10-14). Owen Kipper and Ryan Schuck combined on a seven-hitter.

BOYS GOLF

Panthers take second

SALEM — Jennings County finished second in a tri match at Western Hills. Host Salem edged the Panthers 176-177, and Eastern (Pekin) finished third with a 217.

Jack George and Davey Shaw each shot 42 to lead the Panthers. Eli Simmons carded a 46, Jake Grider added a 47 and Sam Hauersperger had a 53.
