Betty Lois Eversole Polly

COLUMBUS

We are saddened to announce the passing of Betty Lois Eversole Polly. She stepped into the arms of Jesus at 8:58 p.m. on July 23, 2023, while surrounded by her family at home in Columbus, IN. Betty was born in Hazard, KY on January 9, 1941, to Lewis and Ora (Williams) Eversole. She was the wife of the late Marvin Dewey Polly and mother of Montie David. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time and doting on all her grandchildren – taking them on vacations, shopping trips, and especially back to school shopping – which was her favorite!

She was a prominent small business owner of Fashion and Flair Beauty Salon in North Vernon, IN for over 30 years. She was a friend to all who came into her shop and never met a stranger. Early mornings at the beauty shop meant McDonald’s and Yoo-hoos for the grandkids during their summer visits.

As a devoted mother, she and Montie spent all their time together. Even as an adult, Betty and Montie owned a vending company during their time in Bloomington, IL. She enjoyed servicing those machines and passing out free snacks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Polly; brothers, Darrell Eversole, HC Eversole, and Gene Eversole; and sister Lily Buchanan.

She is survived by her son, Montie Polly, and daughter-in-law, Kim (Patterson) Polly; and granddaughters, Amie Mascara (Matthew), Miranda Forte (Damon), Heather Parrett (Steven), Britney Christopher (Matthew), and Lindsey Wallpe (Brandon). Her great grandkids are Landen Polly, Aiden Mascara, Julianna Forte, Lorenzo Forte, Gavin Mascara, Karson Christopher, Jovie Parrett, Andrew Christopher, Eli Parrett, Emily Christopher, Emmersyn Wallpe, Vivienne Wallpe, and baby Wallpe to be born in September. Sisters, Rose Clark, Faye Bickers, Carol East, and Kathleen Perry; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, IN with her son, Montie, officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, IN.

Memorials may be made in honor of Betty through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Jennings County Panthers Food Pantry.
