The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board will consider the adoption of a number of policy updates on Monday night.

In regards to the main docket of policy updates — referred to as NEOLA Volume 35 No. 1 on the agenda — Superintendent Jim Roberts said that the board will postpone voting on certain policies due to ongoing discussions, with Monday’s vote limited to the policies in the volume that board members did not have questions or concerns about.
“There have been a couple of things in the way of having conversations with board members to understand what their concerns are and to rewrite policy to get that done in a timely way,” he said. “So we’re going to move ahead with ones that really, there haven’t been any questions raised about and then put those three, four or five back and see if we can get those ready for the 21st.”
According to a document provided by BCSC officials, the policy updates that are up for approval Monday include those on subjects such as background checks, state law regarding transgender athletes, high ability programming, adjunct teachers, public hearings for collective bargaining, and eLearning days.
Policy updates from Volume 35 No. 1 that are not up for approval at Monday’s meeting include those on school resource officer training requirements, reporting student progress, suspension and expulsion, wellness, the adoption of bylaws and policies, and public participation at board meetings.
