Scott takes Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown

Stormy Scott won the Hall of Fame Classic for the Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series on Aug. 5 at Brownstown Speedway.

The Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series made its second appearance of the year on Aug. 5 at Brownstown Speedway for the running of the 19th Annual Hall of Fame Classic paying $10,000 to win for “Slicker Graphics” Super Late Models.

Three new members also were added to the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame during the event. New Hall of Fame members included Fred King, Keith and Tader Masters.

Stormy Scott took the lead from Kentucky’s Josh Rice on Lap 31 and went on to score his first ever Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series, Brownstown Speedway & Hall of Fame Classic win. Scott also won the $1,000-to-win dash-for-cash to pocket a total of $11,000 for his night’s efforts.

Josh Rice, Devin Gilpin, Chad Stapleton and Kent Robinson rounded out the top five. Completing the top ten were Jason Jameson, Jared Bailey, David Webb, Marty O’Neal and Rohn Moon. Marty O’Neal picked up the $500 bonus for the highest finishing Late Model with a crate engine. Rohn Moon got the $500 bonus for the hard charger of the race.

Derek Groomer passed Ryan Thomas on Lap 2 in “Signals Driving School” Modified feature action and went on to record his first Brownstown modified win of the year. Groomer led Ryan Thomas, Ben Harmon, Jacoby Hines and Logan Mounce at the finish.

Derek Groomer, in his second ride for the night, led every lap of the Pewter Hall Super Stock feature except the last one. Branden Carr, who was catching Groomer lap after lap, made his move on the last corner of the last lap to capture the Super Stock feature win. Carr’s third win of 2023 would be in front of Derek Groomer, Matt Boknecht, Greg Amick and Tucker Chastain.

The second Carr for the night would park in Victory Lane in All in One Pools Pure Stocks. Dusten Carr got the feature win over Hunter Perry, Jacob Owens, Josh Hayes and Davey Waggoner.

Chris Workman went flag-to-flag in “Flag to Flag Media” Crown Vic action. Workman recorded his first Brownstown win of 2023 over Phillip Boudreaux, Anthony Finley, Brandon Cranmer and Michael Cranmer.

Cling wins at Lawrenceburg

Sterling Cling won the sprint car feature on Aug. 5 at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Nick Bilbee was second, followed by J.J. Hughes, Saban Bibent and Korbyn Hayscott.

Matt Hamilton won the modified feature over Chris Shannon, Matthew Morris, Cory Skipton and Joe Smith. Joel Andrews won the pure stock feature over Dylan Chase, Rick Zimmerman, Mike Allen and C.J. Redd. Michelle Baird took the hornet division feature over Jesse Ramirez, Bobbo Smith, Landon Ramirez and Drew Smith.
