Jets sweep Mustangs
NEW WASHINGTON — Hauser opened its season Monday night with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-18 win at New Washington.
Mattie Foster led the Jets with 10 digs and seven aces. Aniston Bostic pounded 13 kills, Kayden Miller recorded 19 assists and Paige McDaniel had two blocks.
Also for Hauser, Kenze Bostic tallied five kills, seven digs and two aces; and Haylin Campbell had eight assists, four digs and three aces. McDaniel notched five kills, Maley Jordan added one assist and Aniston Bostic had one block.
Cougars sweep Panthers
GREENSBURG — South Decatur opened its season with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-17 victory against Knightstown.
Zsophia Sharp recorded eight kills and five aces, and Makayla Somers had 12 assists and eight digs to lead the Cougars. Taylor Somers tallied six block assists, and Lydia Witkemper notched eight digs.
Also for South Decatur, Taylor Somers pounded four kills, Sharp tallied three block assists and six digs, Makayla Somers had three block assists and Molly Eden served two aces.
Trojans top Trinity
SEYMOUR — Class A No. 6 Trinity Lutheran came close in each set, but 4A No. 10 Center Grove pulled out a 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 victory.
Addison Darlage led the Cougars (1-3) with 31 assists and four aces. Carson Bowling pounded 30 kills, Madison Keith had three blocks and Laura Roeder notched 15 digs.
Also for Trinity, Keith tallied 27 kills and Roeder recorded 13 assists and three aces. Ava Blomenberg pounded 14 kills, Darlage added 15 digs and Kiley Zabel served two aces.
GIRLS GOLF
Olympians best Owls
SEYMOUR — Carter Gant won medalist honors with a 43 to lead Columbus East to a 199-205 win against Seymour at Shadowood.
Grace LaSell added a 44 for the Olympians. Dyana Foster shot 52, and Ali Trueblood had a 56.
Panthers take second
MILAN — Jennings County finished second in a tri match at Milan, falling to No. 11 Batesville 154-207. Milan did not have enough players to score as a team.
Lauren Galvan led the Panthers with a 40. Dakota Carr added a 47, Amilia Gresham shot 55 and Aslynn Hopkins had a 65.
BOYS TENNIS
Panthers top Trinity
SEYMOUR — Jennings County claimed a 3-1 decision against Trinity Lutheran, with the No. 2 singles match unable to finish because of lightning, in the season opener for both teams.
The Panthers’ Parker Bales beat Jack Stuckwisch 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Isaac Lightner topped Luke Schepman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Cole Skinner and Rider Ruddick defeated Drew Kerkhof and Will Gausman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
The Cougars’ Nathan Sinks and Jonathan Naewedde beat Brady Sentz and Ty Zohrlaut 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Trinity’s Solomon Hall was leading Ryan Schuck 6-2, 6-6 when their No. 2 singles match was called.
