Destyni Jones: JCHS group took epic summer trip to Europe

After a long awaited three years, Jennings County High School German teacher Ben Jaquess led another one of his exciting trips full of students and citizens of Jennings County all around Europe.

After a year full of planning with the company ACIS, who helped make the trip happen, Jaquess and a group of 17 others departed Cincinnati on July 10 and returned on July 19.

The group of 18 included students, family members and friends. This was not a school trip but ACIS and Jaquess planned the whole itinerary for the tour group.

There were no requirements to be able to go other than funding and a passport. This trip included 2 days for traveling, 2 nights in Vienna, Austria, two nights in Salzburg, Austria, two nights in Munich, Germany, a quick stop in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and two nights in Engelberg, Switzerland.

While on the trip, Jaquess said the group got to experience both the “language and culture portion of Europe”, including castles, cathedrals, waltz and Alphorn lessons, salt mines, viewing the Swiss Alps, and even experiencing a concentration camp memorial site.

Jaquess recalled for most who attended, their favorite part was the view of the Swiss Alps.

Another trip is to expected in 2026.
