North stays perfect

Class 3A No. 4 Columbus North remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win against New Albany on Tuesday.

Misaki Takemoto scored two goals for the Bull Dogs (4-0). Christian Cardoso netted a goal and an assist, and Maddux Tovey had a goal.

Obed Olivo, Aidan Whitley and Derek Arau Ortiz all had an assist for North.

North outshot New Albany 14-9, including 7-3 on goal. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon recorded two saves in 76 minutes of action, and Noah Marsh did not face a shot over the final four minutes in goal.

Jets fall to Eagles

OSGOOD — Jac-Cen-Del scored three times in the first half and went on to post a 4-0 win against Hauser.

Luke Bruner posted six saves, and Will Walters added four saves for the Jets (0-3).

VOLLEYBALL

East tops Owls in 5

Columbus East rallied from a two-sets-to-one deficit to pull out a 25-19, 14-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-11 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Seymour.

Krea Martin led the Olympians (2-2, 2-0) with 32 assists and four aces. Jenna Guse pounded 18 kills, Caroline Frost had two solo and three assist blocks and Chloe Gilley notched 14 digs.

Also for East, Frost and Anika Jenkins each tallied eight kills, and Guse and Martin each added nine digs. Kimberly Carothers had one solo and one assist block Addison Emery served three aces and Gilley added two aces.

Trinity tops North

SEYMOUR — Columbus North came close in the first set, but Class 3A No. 6 Trinity Lutheran posted a 25-22, 25-20, 25-18 victory.

Addison Darlage led the Cougars (2-4) with 31 assists and five aces. Carson Bowling pounded 19 kills, and Laura Roeder notched 12 digs.

Also for Trinity, Madison Keith recorded eight kills, Ava Blomenberg added five kills and Darlage had nine digs. Kiley Zabel contributed six digs and two aces, and Emerson Warren served one ace.

Kennedy Horn led the Bull Dogs (3-4) with seven kills and one ace. Holly Edwards and Reese Edwards each recorded 11 assists, Karen Dutro had one solo and one assist block, Morgan Osborn notched eight digs and Roselynn Venegas and Katelyn Mabis each served one ace.

Also for North, Dutro pounded six kills; and Mabis added four kills, one assist block and seven digs. Horn had two assist blocks, Kaitlin White and Elaina Penrod each added one assist block and Venegas tallied seven digs.

Columbus Christian falls

Columbus Christian fell to Indianapolis Metropolitan HomeSchool 25-7, 25-9, 25-15.

Emma Murray led the Crusaders (0-2) with five kills, seven digs and two aces. Emma Sewell and Abby Dora each recorded two assists.

Also for Columbus Christian, Alexys Murray pounded one kill, and Sewell served one ace.

Lancers sweep Jackets

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh cruised in the first set before having to pull out close second and third sets in a 25-8, 27-25, 26-24 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Morristown.

MacKenzie Bieker led the Lancers (4-5, 1-1) with 12 kills, six blocks and three aces. Kyah Streeval recorded 34 assists, Kenna Streeval notched 28 digs and Jessica Walsh and Mia Dodson each served three aces.

Also for Edinburgh, Zoey Sida pounded 10 kills and three blocks, and Walsh added six kills and 21 digs. Kyah Streeval had three blocks and Bieker notched 26 digs.

Cougars fall to Milan

MILAN — South Decatur was competitive in all three sets, but came away with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 loss at Milan.

Zsophia Sharp led the Cougars (2-1) with seven kills, three blocks, 17 digs and two aces. Makayla Somers recorded 10 assists.

Also for South Decatur, Paige McQueen tallied six kills, two blocks and 10 digs. Makayla Somers pounded four kills, Taylor Somers had two blocks and Molly Eden notched 12 digs.

GIRLS GOLF

Bull Dogs down Owls

Erin Hopkins won medalist honors with a 1-over-par 36 to lead Columbus North to a 185-202 win against Seymour at Harrison Lake Country Club.

Lindsey Hartwell carded a 41 for the Bull Dogs. Ana Pavlov added a 53, Kara Buntin shot 55 and Harper Andresen had a 60.

Panthers stop Stars

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County picked up its first win of the season, a 4-1 victory against Bedford North Lawrence.

Parker Bales beat Jayden Kemp 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Isaac Lightner topped Jackson Corey 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (1-3). Ryan Schuck and Cole Skinner downed Drew Stephenson and Neal Patel 7-6 (7), 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Bredy Sentz and Ty Zohrlaut defeated Gavin Baker and Braxton Fugate 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings’ Rider Ruddick fell to Orion Hill 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Braves blank Lancers

BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown Central won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Edinburgh.

Austin Brockman fell to Smith Hackman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Milas Burkman lost to Pierson Wheeler 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Bailey Totten fell to Lane Steward 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (1-1).

Edinburgh’s Braylon Lenkner and Jayson Music lost to Chase Brock and Evan Schneider 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Teddy Crawhorn and Matthew Burton fell to Jace Reaser and Max Peters 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
