The heat wave in Columbus this week has played a big role in games being postponed or canceled.

The Columbus East vs. Columbus North boys soccer game scheduled for tonight has been moved to Saturday because of the expected excessive heat. The JV game will start at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow at around 7:15 p.m.

Wednesday’s North at Plainfield boys tennis match has been postponed to Sept. 13. Wednesday’s Brown County at Hauser boys tennis match was postponed. Today’s Jennings County at Seymour boys tennis match has been moved to Sept. 12.

East’s boys soccer match at Bloomington North Tuesday was postponed, and a makeup date is still to be determined. The Olympians’ boys tennis match at Bedford North Lawrence Tuesday was postponed to Sept. 5, and today’s match vs. Madison has been postponed, with a makeup date to be determined.

The Hauser boys tennis match against Milan Monday was postponed to Wednesday.

The Jennings County football game against Brown County on Friday has been moved to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The Trinity Lutheran boys tennis match against Southwestern (Hanover) Tuesday was moved to Friday with a 5:30 p.m. start.

East 2013 football team to be honored

The 2013 Columbus East football team will be honored to celebrate the 10-year anniversary when they went 15-0 to win the Class 4A state championship.

The celebration will occur before kickoff of their crosstown rivalry game against Columbus North on Friday night.

North baseball to hold Alumni Game

Columbus North baseball will be holding an Alumni Game at 1 p.m. Saturday at the varsity diamond at Southside Elementary.

All alumni players and former coaches are invited to participate or watch. Old uniforms and current team hats will be available for purchase.

North cheerleaders to host cheer clinic

Columbus North’s cheerleaders will be hosting a Cheerleading Clinic Sept. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. for Grades K-through-3 and from Noon to 2 p.m. for Grades 4-through-6.

Cost is $40. Those signed up by Sept. 1 will receive a camp t-shirt.
