Destyni Jones: JCHS band marches to beat of Metallica

The Marching Pride of Jennings County performed and recorded an entire 10-minute halftime performance that will be submitted to a competition Metallica is holding for marching bands.

The competition involves more than $180,000 in prizes and Jennings County Band Director Paige Chadwick is excited to see if The Marching Pride can bring home some new funds for the band.

There are prizes in five different categories including high school, the category the Marching Pride is entering.

The band performed “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, which includes a full performance by the Jennings County Color Guard.

One of the Color Guard Captains, Anna Hyden, said, “Both the band and color guard have been working so hard and want to make this performance count. We always enjoy performing, and it feels like an honor to be able to have Metallica listen to us perform one of their own songs.”

Along with Anna, multiple other band and color guard members feel honored to be playing for Metallica and say they’re excited to perform for a band this big.
