Eagles roll to first win in two years

NASHVILLE — Brown County jumped out to a 29-0 lead after one quarter Friday and went on to post a 62-6 win against Irvington Prep.

Irvington Prep scored against the Eagles’ JV defense on last play of game to avoid the shutout.

Landon Scott had one rushing and one receiving touchdown and returned a punt for a score. Kody Shugars caught two touchdown passes from Noah Lewis and returned a punt for another score.

Kyle Cobb returned an interception for a score, ran for a score and threw a touchdown pass to Billy Harper. Asher Stringer ran for a touchdown.

The win snapped a 14-game losing streak for the Eagles (1-3).

“We needed it,” Brown County coach Colton Sample said. “The locker room needed it. The know that they can. They needed to win. There’s a lot of confidence in our locker room right now. A lot of those kids have been with me since I got started, so they’ve been through the ups and downs, so it’s huge for the kids in the locker room.”
