Hauser boys take runner-up in Heritage Days Classic

HOPE — The Hauser boys finished runner-up in their Heritage Days Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday.

Milan won the boys meet with 47 points to 51 for the Jets. South Decatur finished fifth with 100.

Colin Kistler led Hauser with a third-place finish in 17 minutes, 12.1 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Nolan Dailey took fourth in 17:17.4, while Koleson Gernentz was 12th (18:51.7), Mason Moore 16th (19:27.2) and Collin Buck 20th (19:41.2).

Donovan Hale finished eighth in 18:36.7 to lead the Cougars. Nicholas Hunter took 10th in 18:38.4, while Conner Newby was 19th (19:40.6), Logan Wilkinson 35th (20:49.3) and Keaton Troutman 45th (23:20.5).

Columbus Christian had two boys runners. Justin Schlaudroff finished 34th in 20:33.3, and Benjamin Hasley took 37th in 21:06.0.

Only two schools had full girls teams. Indy Genesis won with 15 points, and South Decatur scored 50.

Clair Schoettmer led the Cougars with a 15th-place finish in 25:12.4. Brayley Sundal took 19th in 26:58.7, while Mary Schwering was 20th (27:02.8), Brooklyn Ortman 22nd (27:44.8) and Bri Benefiel 24th (27:53.8).

Hauser had two girls runners. Lucie Asher finished 18th in 26:52.2, and Addison Dailey was 30th in 29:05.6.

Columbus Christian’s lone runner, Elizabeth Schlaudroff, finished 23rd in 27:52.7.
