North wins Heritage Days Classic; Hauser takes fifth

HOPE — Columbus North volleyball swept four matches Saturday to capture Hauser’s Heritage Days Invitational.

The Bull Dogs beat Rushville 25-14, 25-17; South Dearborn 25-21, 25-22 and Madison 25-18, 25-17 in pool play before downing Oldenburg Academy 25-20, 25-21 in the championship match.

Karen Dutro led the Bull Dogs (13-9) with 31 kills and three solo and six assist blocks. Reese Edwards recorded 50 assists, Kennedy Horn had three solo and six assist blocks, Morgan Osborn notched 40 digs and Katelynn Mabis served five aces.

Also for North, Horn pounded 23 kills, Kaitlyn White added 17 digs and Holly Evans tallied 25 assists. Roselynn Venegas contributed 17 digs, Ally Wettschurack added 15 digs and three aces and Osburn served four aces.

Meanwhile, Hauser went 2-2. The Jets beat Franklin County 25-9, 25-9 and fell to Oldenburg 25-10, 25-22 and Greensburg 25-20, 25-20 in pool play before beating South Dearborn 25-23, 21-25, 15-12 in the fifth-place game.

Mattie Foster

Mattie Foster led the Jets (16-11) with 38 digs and 10 aces. Kenze Bostic pounded 29 kills, Kayden Miller recorded 61 assists and Aniston Bostic had eight blocks.

Also for Hauser, Aniston Bostic notched 22 kills, Norah Berkenstock tallied 10 kills and 17 digs and Haylin Campbell added seven assists and eight aces. Kenze Bostic had seven blocks, Kayden Miller added five blocks and three aces and Gracie Blair contributed 19 digs.
