SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI
Taylor Neal Fleenor was born August 18th, 1937, in Clear Springs, Indiana, to Eli and Maggie Fleenor. He died in Columbus, Indiana surrounded by family, God’s Word, and songs on October 18th, 2023.
Neal attended Clear Springs High School and graduated in 1955. He moved to Texas and later attended Odessa College, and then Texas Western College in El Paso. He was on the basketball team at both.
In 1965, Neal opened the first of his health clubs. His final health club, giving him a total of 38 years in the business, was Neal’s Health and Fitness Center on John Ben Sheppard Parkway, in Odessa.
In December of 1965 he married the love of his life, Mayda Sue Brown. He became a Christian in his youth, and led a life devoted to The Lord, His purpose, and His people. He developed a love for Christ and The Church, sharing the Gospel with many people, leading to their salvation, and giving all Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Even through his infirmary, he shared the gospel and spoke words of encouragement and love to his wife. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father, siblings Marie Lucas, Ella Mae Warren, Nora Lagrone and Nina Lucas. He is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. Also, his son John, daughter Sheridan and her husband Douglas Wittig, five grandchildren: Lydia, Melody, Taylor, Eli, and Ian, and two great grandchildren: Neal and Skylar.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday.
Mr. Fleenor will be laid to rest next to his father at Liberty Cemetery, Norman, Indiana.
