Columbus High School gymnast Greg Hill demonstrated his skills atop one of the new signs erected at major entrances to the city proclaiming Columbus North High School State Gymnastics Capital of Indiana in 1973. The misspelled word, “capitol,” was corrected later.

Two Columbus Police officers, Eric Stevens and Julie Quesenbery, were chosen to patrol the hallways of Columbus North and East high schools to improve student safety and develop healthy relationships with students.

Repp and Mundt Construction Co. donated time and materials to complete foundations for new dugouts at Columbus East High School baseball field.

1973

A fire at Industrial Liquid Waste Disposal Co., an oil reclamation plant about seven miles southeast of Columbus, sent clouds of black smoke into the air as flames destroyed about $30,000 worth of oil and equipment.
