Columbus sports will be heating up next week as every winter season sport with the exception of gymnastics will take place in the annual rivalry between Columbus East and Columbus North.
The battles will commence on Dec. 12 when East hosts the girls and boys swimming contests. On Dec. 13, the girls and boys wrestling dual meets will be held at North.
In girls basketball, North will host East on Dec. 14. It will conclude with boys basketball when East hosts North on Dec. 15.
The North-East gymnastics meet won’t be held until Jan. 8 at East.
Panthers’ Harrison named All-State
Jennings County defensive lineman Dylan Harrison has been selected to the Indiana Football Coaches Association Class 4A Senior All-State team.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Harrison recorded 53 tackles, including 11 1/2 for losses, and five sacks. He also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery for the Panthers, who went 5-6 this season.
North swim meet to be at Center Grove
Tuesday’s swim meet that has Columbus North scheduled at Whiteland will be a tri meet between the Bull Dogs, Warriors and Center Grove at Center Grove.
The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
North wrestling match rescheduled
The Columbus North wrestling dual meet with Decatur Central that was originally slated for Nov. 29 now will be held on Thursday.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
East to host signing ceremony
Columbus East will have a college signing day at 6 p.m. Dec. 18.
North-Jennings game rescheduled
The Jennings County at Columbus North boys basketball game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to Jan. 16.
The JV game will start at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
