Jennings County High School’s auditioned show choir A Touch of Class recently traveled around the county on a two-day tour. The group of 19 students was led by choir director Aaron Brooks and accompanied by Linda Coad on piano.

On the tour, A Touch of Class visited six elementary schools — Brush Creek, St. Mary’s, Graham Creek, Hayden, Sand Creek and Scipio. The students also made appearances at the North Vernon Mayor’s Office and Majestic Care of North Vernon.

The Christmas spirit was felt by all through the group’s three songs, “Run Rudolph Run”, “Carry the Light”, and “Christmas in JC.” In between songs were “student spotlights”, where different members of the choir got to perform a song in front of their peers.

A Touch of Class members had an outstanding time and were so grateful for this opportunity. Junior Aida Kovaich said that her favorite part of the tour was “the companionship and group bonding that the two days consisted of.” Junior Josie Campbell added that “seeing all the smiles from the elementary students” was her most memorable moment.

This is Brooks’ first year as choir director at JCHS. He is very excited to be part of the JCHS music department and remarked that the tour went “extremely well.” He added that his favorite part of the tour was “meeting students across the county and getting the opportunity to know TOC members better.” When asked if this tour will be an annual event, he responded by saying “absolutely, bringing holiday joy to our kids across the county was so much fun.”

A Touch of Class will be performing these songs and more at the County-Wide Christmas Choir Concert on Tuesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. at the Jennings County High School Auditorium. To find more information about Jennings County’s Choir Department, visit the Jennings County Choirs Facebook page.
