Weather update: Dangerous wind chills predicted through Monday morning

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management says dangerous wind chills are predicted to continue through Monday morning. Lowest wind chill values forecast between -20 and -35 degrees today.

Temperatures are also expected to remain bitterly cold through Tuesday morning with wind chills below zero.

Light snow is possible late Monday into Monday night with accumulations under an inch.

Warming Centers:

  • Brighter Days will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily.
  • The Community Engagement Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, including the weekend.
  • ColumBUS is making a trip each day (starting Saturday) at 7:45 AM from Brighter Days to the Community Center so that clients will not have to walk.

Travel Conditions:

  • Reminder that roadways may be slick in areas where ice has formed from rainfall or snow.
  • Allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
  • Allow extra time for starting and stopping your vehicle.
  • Be sure to clear ice and/or snow from all windows of you vehicle for better visibility.
