School resource officers Julie Quesenbery and Eric Stevens were assigned to local elementary, middle and high schools. Quesenbery was headquartered at Columbus East, while Stevens was headquartered at Columbus North.

1999

Four local volunteers, George Moon, Karen Ferguson, and Dawna and Rusty Seavers, were honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartholomew County during their Volunteer Recognition Dinner at The Ramada Inn. Moon was Big Brother of the Year, Ferguson was Big Sister of the Year and the Seavers were Couples Match of the Year.

1974

Columbus East High School social studies teacher James Nay attended a three-day conference on developing skills in individualized instruction in Lincoln, Ill. Twelve Indiana social studies teachers attended the federally funded workshop, as well as more than 300 Midwestern teachers.
