Bull Dogs take second in sectional; Euler wins all-around

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North narrowly missed a sectional gymnastics title Friday night, but still moved on to regional with a runner-up finish in the Franklin Central Sectional.

Bloomington North edged the Bull Dogs 106.4 to 106.0 for the team title. Those teams, along with Bloomington South, which was third at 103.7, advance to Friday’s Franklin Central Regional.

Columbus North’s Reese Euler won the all-around competition with a 37.975. She won the vault (9.4), beam (9.4) and bars (9.65) and finished third on the floor (9.5).

The Bull Dogs’ Hannah Perry placed sixth in the all-around with a 35.2. She tied for fourth on the floor (9.4), tied for fifth on the vault (9.0), took 10th on the beam (8.65) and tied for 10th on the bars (8.125).

Also for North, Emerson Chambers finished 23rd in the all-around with a 31.225. Laney Acton took 13th on the bars (7.8) and 28th on the floor (8.275), Ellie McIntier was 12th on the vault (8.65) and Arwyn Tian tied for 22nd on the beam (8.1).

Columbus East finished 11th with a 94.625, just 25-hundreths of a point behind 10th-place Owen Valley.

Bethany Lewis led the Olympians with an eighth-place all-around finish with a 34.775. She took seventh on he bars (8.6), 11th on the beam (8.625) and floor (8.9) and tied for 12th on the vault (8.65).

East’s Shelby Kendrick tied for 19th in the all-around with a 31.9. Sophia Begley finished 35th in the all-around with a 25.525.
