Jack E. Freese

ELIZABETHTOWN

Jack E. Freese, 80, of Elizabethtown, passed from this life at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Freese was born December 22, 1943, in Indianapolis, the son of James W. and Margaret V. Jones Freese.

He married Kathryn J. Bradley May 25, 1974.

Jack retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2005 after 42 years of service.

He was a member of Elizabethtown Christian Church and enjoyed farming and gardening.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife Kate, of nearly 50 years; son, Vincent E. (Kathy) Freese of Louisville; stepdaughter, Melanie J. Seipp of OH; grandson, William J. Freese; step-grandchildren, Jaden A.B. Seipp and Duncan N.F. Seipp; sister, Nancy S. Freese of IL and Juanita M. McNeely of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack E. Freese Jr; brothers, C. Robert Freese, James W. Freese Jr. and Richard D. Freese; and sisters, Charlotte A. Ogilvie and M. Kathleen Hargrave.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. F. Doran Chambers officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. to time of service.

He will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elizabethtown Christian Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
