Oscar Dale Seal

NORTH VERNON

Oscar Dale Seal, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born June 16, 1931, in Scipio, he was the son of the late Oscar L. and Mollie M. (Miller) Seal. He married Helen Jean Kuntz on June 16, 1951, in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on March 28, 2015.

Oscar Dale was a 1949 graduate of North Vernon High School and served in the U.S. Army from October 16, 1951, until September 29,1953. He worked as a purchaser for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 38 years before retiring in 1988. Oscar Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon and a member of the National Rife Association. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and fixing items.

Survivors included his sons, Tom (Martha) Seal of Scipio and Donald Ray Seal of North Vernon; his daughters, Beverly (Terry) Zornes and Linda Marie (Larry) Edens, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Charlotte Johnson of Columbus, Zach Daniel Seal and Beth (Gary) Gootee, both of North Vernon, Kyla (Sam) McCollum of Corydon and Kelly Simmons of Butlerville; ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, John Seal; and grandson, Eric Roberts.

A funeral service for Oscar Dale will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Terry Brammer officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the visitation on Thursday. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery with military graveside rites by member of the Matt Hester Post #2021, V.F.W.

Memorials may be made in honor of Oscar Dale through the funeral home to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
