Strong thunderstorms will impact Bartholomew County as well as portions of Shelby, southeastern Hancock, east central Monroe, northwestern Rush, southeastern Morgan, Johnson, Brown, and southeastern Marion Counties through 1 p.m. today.

At 12:22 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Greenwood to nine miles southwest of Nashville. The line was moving at 60 mph, with wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch hail.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible, the National Weather Service reported.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch effective until 4 p.m. Thursday for Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Jennings and Johnson counties, as well as the following Indiana counties: 
 
Boone, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, Decatur, Delaware, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Knox, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.  

The watch means severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued. The watch area includes the following communities:
