Energy Matters meeting set for Wednesday

Energy Matters Community Coalition will hold a Green Drinks networking free event featuring special guest speakers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at El Nopal Restaurant, 3114 N. National Road in Columbus. The event is open to anyone interested in what’s happening locally to address climate change and the clean energy transition.

Kylie Foster and Brian Hensley of Duke Energy Corporation will be the presenters.

They will discuss Duke’s Energy Small Business Energy Saver Program and how to take advantage of that opportunity.

Foster and Hensley will highlight how Duke will cover up to 80 percent of the cost to make energy efficient upgrades in your operation. The process includes an energy assessment, energy savings recommendations, turnkey installation, along with upfront incentives to provide energy/cost savings related to building lighting, refrigeration, heating and cooling, and water systems.

Meeting organizers are encouraging residents to see how this savings opportunity can benefit their business, church, non-profit organization and other facilities with peak energy demand of 180 kilowatt or less.

Networking (and ordering dinner, if interested) begins at 6 p.m. in the meeting room. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.
