Olympians take second, Bull Dogs third at Edinburgh invite

Columbus East finished second and Columbus North took third out of 17 teams Saturday in the boys golf season-opening Edinburgh Invitational at Timbergate.

Shelbyville won with a 304. The Olympians shot 312, and the Bull Dogs had a 330.

Pierce Arnholt and Carter Greene each shot 76 to tie for fifth individually and lead East. Ben Luedeke and Mason Reeves each shot 80, and Keaton Stephenson had a 99.

Luke Friend led North with a 78. Brady Schneider carded an 81, Alex Clark added an 85, Carter Battinshot 86 and Tyler Dillingham had an 87.

Host Edinburgh finished 13th with a 396. Wyatt Burton led the Lancers with an 84, while Samson Parkhurst carded a 101, Gabe Bennett added a 105, Austin Brockman shot 106 and Trent Schmidt had a 112.

Hauser finished 16th with a 426. Hunter Pappano tied for third individually with a 75, while Marshall Moody added a 102, Colten Hatton shot 118 and Elijah Price had a 131.

Meanwhile, North and East sent their second group of players to the Seymour Invitational. The Bull Dogs finished sixth with a 358, and the Olympians were 12th with a 424. Bloomington South won the 13-team event with a 307.

Joseph Perkins led North with an 83. Austin Perry added an 89, Ryder Allman and Brennan Kushman each shot 93 and Parker Brown had a 102. Owen Sullivan played as an individual and shot 108.

Jennings County finished seventh with a 366. Eli Simmons led the Panthers with an 86, while Jake Grider carded an 88, Jack George added a 95, Davey Shaw shot 97 and Aaron Lewis had a 104.

Luke Rice led East with a 96. Danny Coriden carded a 107, Luke Hunter added a 108, Ethan Bumbalough shot 113 and Cole Harvey had a 131.

Trinity Lutheran finished 13th with a 448. Alex Overgaard and Wylie Jones shot 103 and 104, respectively, to lead the Cougars. Nolan Teipen carded a 117, Rylan Adair added a 124 and Sam Lorenz had a 131.
