Columbus East High School students Seth Fowler and Madel Presto were selected as the recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship by Heritage Fund — the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. The two were chosen from 74 Bartholomew County applicants and received full tuition for four years at the Indiana college of their choice.
1999
Finishing touches, such as a coat of red paint to match the Interstate 65 arch, went on the Second Street Bridge before its scheduled mid-May opening. A ribbon-cutting for the bridge was tentatively planned for May 10, with the opening of traffic to follow.
1974
Members of the Junior Humane Society at Columbus East and Columbus North high schools held their second annual Walk-A-Thon at East. All proceeds collected were used to fund the new animal shelter.
