Edinburgh man arrested on multiple charges after traffic check in local park

COLUMBUS, Ind. — An Edinburgh man was arrested at a local park Thursday afternoon after a Columbus police officer located drugs and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., a CPD officer was conducting an extra patrol at Noblitt Park when he observed a vehicle parked near the entrance. The officer made contact with the occupant of the vehicle who was later identified as Joshua L. Pennington, 44, of Edinburgh, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. While speaking with Pennington, the officer detected the burnt odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and also observed several large knives in the car, Harris said.
While conducting a search of the vehicle, the officer located marijuana as well as a pipe that contained methamphetamine. Pennington was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the preliminary charges below:
