COLUMBUS
Janet Louise Thompson, 83, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:43 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Thompson was born January 20, 1941, in Columbus, the daughter of Kermit T.G. and Mabel H.M. Strietelmeier Franke. Janet was a 1959 graduate of Columbus High School.
She married Donald Robert Thompson July 28, 1963.
Janet was the office manager of Newsom Industries for 56 years and retired in 2015.
She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, a former Sunday School Teacher at St. Peter Lutheran in Waymansville for seven years and enjoyed Bible study
She had a passion for photography and enjoyed scrapbooking and making photo albums for family.
She also enjoyed working on family Genealogy.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years; daughter, Darlene (Dan) Hopkins of Columbus; grandchildren, Jordan Hopkins and Ryan (Laura Parker) Hopkins both of Columbus; brother, Paul (Jeanine) Franke of Columbus; and a sister, Diane MacDowell of Hopkinsville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Darlene Ann Franke.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Tim Carter officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
