Stella E. Hoskins

Stella E. Hoskins, 91, of Columbus, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Stella was born November 18, 1932, in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert Cecil and Elizabeth Ruth O’Connor Henry. On June 16, 1950, she married Richard D. Hoskins. They moved to Columbus in 1955 and built their home in Bethel Village in 1959 where they resided the remainder of their lives.

Stella was a graduate of Central High School in Madison, Indiana in 1950. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and word searches. Stella was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Missionary Society and Girl Scout leader at Bethel Baptist Church. Over the years she worked in the cafeteria at Wayne Township School, Joann Fabrics, Four Seasons Retirement Center and Columbus Regional Hospital in the cashier’s office. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter, Debbie. They traveled to all 50 states, United Kingdom and Europe. Stella and her husband, Richard, enjoyed growing their own vegetables and fruit in the backyard garden, canning and freezing them and sharing with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Seaborne of Columbus, Debbie (John) Baker of Greenwood, Ron (Mary) Hoskins of Boise, Idaho, Karen (Brian) Hussong of Marion; grandchildren, Deana Haworth, James (Stephanie) Seaborne, Jason (Kara) Baker, Craig Seaborne, Rudy Eckstein, Dane (Nina) Hoskins, Anna Hussong; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Nanette Mills of Wyoming, Michigan and son-in-law, Darrell Owens, also of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; daughter, Patti Owens; siblings, Gordan Henry, William Henry, LaVerne Wade, Helen Sauley and Vernon Henry.

A graveside service will be held for Stella on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Cemetery with John Baker officiating.

Burial will take place next to her husband, Richard, at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
