2014

Nearly 1,000 fourth-graders filled the barns at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds during the Farm Bureau’s Ag Expo to learn about agriculture directly from the source — farmers. There were more than 20 local agriculture experts clearing up misconceptions and teaching students the importance of farms in the community.

1999

Several high school students who participated in Ivy Tech’s annual drafting contest received awards for their knowledge and skill in the technical field. Teams from Columbus North, Columbus East, Seymour and Jennings County high schools participated, and North placed first in the team competition.

1974

A total of $365.87 was collected by participants in the record-breaking 120-hour Monopoly marathon for cancer research held at the Courthouse Center. The marathon was started by 16 Southside Junior High School students, who broke the old 108-hour record of time playing the game.
