IUC drops first conference tourney game

Lucas Slager

BECKLEY, W.Va. — IU Columbus’ first-ever River States Conference Tournament baseball game ended in a 10-4 defeat Friday at West Virginia Tech.

Lucas Slager went 3 for 3 for the Crimson Pride (10-41), who pounded out 11 hits. Tarron White went 2 for 5.

Columbus North graduate Casper Clark started on the mound for IUC and allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits, with six strikeouts and only one walk in 5 2/3 innings. Jackson Gilcrest gave up four runs on four hits over the final 2 1/3.

Game 2 of the series will take place at noon Saturday. If the Crimson Pride win, it would force a deciding Game 3 to follow.
