May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and an upcoming Zoom event hosted by Columbus-based Cummins Inc. will focus on inclusion and civic engagement.
The webinar “Empowering Voices: Inclusion in Civic Engagement and Voter’s Rights” will be Friday, May 10, from noon to 1 p.m.
The Indiana Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Cummins will present the webinar featuring guest speaker Ami Gandhi, director of strategic initiatives and the Midwest Voting Rights Program with the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.
Organizers said Gandhi works to reduce barriers to voting and improve civic participation, especially in communities of color and low-income communities in the Midwest.
