North goes 2-1 at Franklin Central invite

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North softball went 2-1 in Saturday’s Franklin Central Invitational, beating Franklin 8-5 and falling to McCutcheon 13-2 before topping Franklin Central 6-4.

Miley McClellan went 3 for 3, and Ali Wooten went 3 for 4 with a double against Franklin. Bailee Scruggs had two RBIs and threw an 11-hitter.

Scruggs went 2 for 3 against McCutcheon. Kelsey Lovelace allowed seven hits and seven runs (all unearned) and struck out seven over the first 3 2/3 innings.

Scruggs went 2 for 3 and threw a seven-hitter, allowing only two earned runs, and striking out nine against Franklin Central. Lily Retz went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Lovelace and Summer Williams each went 2 for 4 for the Bull Dogs (7-6).
