Jennings boys take second, girls fourth; East girls fifth in HHC

NEW ALBANY — Jennings County’s boys finished second, and the Panther girls slipped past Columbus East for fourth in Thursday’s Hoosier Hills Conference track and field meet.

Floyd Central won the boys meet with 168 points to 95 for Jennings. East finished seventh with 24.

Floyd Central’s girls won with 164 points to 85 for runner-up New Albany. The Panthers edged the Olympians 66.5 to 62.5 for fourth and fifth.

Kraedyn Young led the Jennings boys with a win in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 27.32 seconds). Blaine Ison finished second in the 100 (11.10) and 200 (22.41), Logan Lawson took second in the pole vault (11 feet), Will Barnes placed second in the 110 hurdles (15.33) and the Panthers were second in the 4×100 relay (44.11).

East’s Jared Brooks finished third in the shot put (44-5 1/2) and the Olympians took third in the 4×800 relay (8:54.54)

For the girls, Jennings’ Rachael Manning broke the school record in winning the pole vault at 9-6, and Aylah Belding won the high jump. Haley Vogel took second in the 3,200 (12:57.26).

The Olympians’ Jenna Guse finished third in the 400 (1:04.31), and the Olympians were third in the 4×400 relay (4:21.31).
