Jets sweep South Decatur, clinch share of MHC softball title

GREENSBURG — Hauser clinched at least a share of the Mid-Hoosier Conference softball title with a pair of wins at South Decatur on Friday.

The Jets were leading 9-0 in the bottom of the second inning on Thursday at Hauser when the game was suspended because of rain. Unable to finish on the Jets’ diamond, they finished Friday at South Decatur, with Hauser winning 13-0 in five innings. The Jets then won the regularly-scheduled contest 15-1, also in five innings.

Paige McDaniel threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs in the opener. Izzy Brunner went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBIs, and Beatriz Hruba went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

Haven Hartwell threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs in the second game for Hauser (14-5, 8-0), which managed 19 hits. Brunner went 4 for 5 with two RBIs, Katelyn Robinson went 3 for 4, Mallory Jordan and Haylin Campbell each went 2 for 3, McDaniel went 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs and Lucie Asher went 2 for 4.

Delaney Caplinger went 2 for 2 for the Cougars (2-14, 0-8).
