Co-No. 14-ranked Columbus North breezed into the finals of its own regional with a 5-0 semifinal win against East Central on Tuesday.
Kathryn Wilson blanked Payton Pies 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Aya Saad beat Kelsey Scholl 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Annabelle Sun topped Ava Vogelgsang 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (15-4).
North’s Lucy Bergman and Lizzie Bodart downed Olivia Rosemeyer and Katia Craig 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Grace Conner and Lison Cloteaux defeated Eva Steinmetz and Madison Noel 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
The Bull Dogs will host Southwestern (Hanover), a 3-2 winner over Bedford North Lawrence in the other semifinal, in the regional championship at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in the individual singles tournament, Jennings County’s Tatum Brown beat Trinity Lutheran’s Drew Hubbard 6-0, 6-0. Brown will play an opponenet to be determined in Thursday’s sectional final at North.
