Hauser pulls out win in wee hours of the morning

VERSAILLES — In a game that ended at 12:53 a.m. early Thursday morning, Hauser pulled out a 7-6, nine-inning baseball win against South Ripley in the opening round of the South Ripley Sectional.

The Jets (18-9) led 3-0 after 4 1/2 innings before the Raiders scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. Hauser tied it with a run in the seventh. The Jets scored three in the top of the ninth before allowing two in the bottom of the ninth to hang on for the win.

Holden Pittman went 3 for 5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Stryker Gill and Simeon Wasil each went 2 for 5.

Kam Blair pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to pick up the win in relief of Wasil. The pair combined on a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Hauser will play Milan in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Monday. The sectional final is at 6 p.m. Monday.
