Marcia was born March 11, 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia. She married Thomas Earl Battle Jr. Feb. 23, 1946, and they were happily married for nearly 38 years until he passed away January 28, 1984. Marcia attended Western Michigan University in her hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan where she studied accounting. She and Earl, as she called him, were the proud parents of four children. Marcia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who offered support, wisdom and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community in Columbus where she lived for most of her life. She donated hours of service as a “pink lady” at the hospital, Red Cross and Visitor’s Center volunteer, and poll worker. She was a pastoral care volunteer for many years and later in life received loving care in return. Marcia leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

Preceded in death by her mother, Eva G. Frankill, her husband, and her first son, Thomas E. Battle III, she is survived by three children, Timothy Lane Battle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Teresa Ann Hand of Brownsburg, Indiana; and Debra Lea Miller of Seattle, Washington; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
