Olympians take fifth in New Pal invite

NEW PALESTINE — The Columbus East girls wrestlers finished fifth out of 28 teams in Saturday’s New Palestine Invitational.

Franklin Central won the tournament with 298 points to 217 for Mooresville, 201 for Perry Meridian, 176.5 for Beech Grove and 173 for the Olympians.

East’s Gloria Cloud at 125 pounds and Annie Redman at 170 went 4-0 to win their respective weight classes. Maddie Shrader went 3-1 and finished second at 190.

Also for the Olympians, Izzy Wakefield (155) and Kaydence Spradlin (235) each went 3-1 and finished third. Tienica Dits (105) and Breylin Rodriguez (115) each went 3-2 and placed fifth, and Abby Morales (100) went 202 and took seventh.

Columbus North had three wrestlers compete, all of which lost their first two matches.
