INDIANAPOLIS — Trinity Lutheran made it back-to-back championships, capturing its second Class A state volleyball title Saturday.
The Class A No. 1 Cougars cruised in the first two sets, then overcame a third-set setback to finish off a 25-11, 25-15, 20-25, 25-16 win against Faith Christian in the first Volleyball State Final played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Rachel Bonde recorded 20 kills and six blocks, and Bella Wehmiller had 36 assists and three aces to lead Trinity (23-11). Emmy Price notched 22 digs.
Also for the Cougars, Emerson Warren pounded 12 kills and two blocks, and Bailey Bonde added eight kills and two blocks. Rachel Bonde tallied two assists, 17 digs and one ace; Presley Meyer had 19 digs and two aces and Maddie Adams served one ace.
Bailey Bonde won the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award for Class A.
