Aging conference set at Learning Center

The local nonprofit Thrive Alliance agency is hosting a one-day aging conference to connect with Baby Boomers and provide resources they will need to map a successful course as they age, according to organizers.

The conference will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Nov. 2 at Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave. in Columbus.

Registration deadline is Monday.

More than 10,000 Boomers will turn 65 every day for the next 13 years. Just as this generation has had a social, cultural, and political impact, they will be the driving force in mapping the future for the aging populations, said Sue Lamborn of Thrive Alliance.

As part of the conference, Thrive Alliance will also be hosting a community expo. Various vendors will make their staff and resources available until 1 p.m. that day.

The day also will include a continental breakfast, lunch, caregiver support to a loved one by Just Friends Adult Day Services, and massages by SunRise Healthcare.

Thrive Alliance, which promotes independence for older residents so they can remain in their own home, provides a range of social and human services to residents of all ages in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, and Jennings Counties.
